Valley Christian Church of East Fishkill, New York, was formed from several Bible study groups in Hopewell Junction, New York, that originated from the home of Russ and Sharon Williamson in the early 1970’s.
On September 15, 1975 the bible study groups came together for the purpose of corporate worship and teaching.
This first public meeting was held at the Oak Grove Grange, on Route 9 (a rented facility). In December of 1975, a fire destroyed the building and the congregation met in the Wappingers Fire House in the interim.
In June 1976, the church moved to the Mt. Hope Grange Building on Myers Corner Road. The church worshipped there 5 years.
On June 18, 1981 the church purchased its present property in Hopewell Junction, New York.
The structure on the newly purchased property located at 1072 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction, was a garage, which was soon converted into a usable church facility. On November 2, 1981, the congregation met in the Fellowship Hall for the first time. April 1986 was the ground breaking for the new facility. The new and current structure was dedicated on July 24, 1988.
Dr. Greg Williamson (ordained May 20, 1990 in Valley Church) succeeded his father, Pastor Russ, as the Lead Pastor of Valley Church in June of 1993. Under Dr. Greg and Pastor Susie Williamson’s leadership, Valley Church has grown from 120 people to over 1,800 who call Valley Church home and regularly worship there today.
Even though the Lord has “called home” and moved on many of our founding members, including our precious Pastor Russ and Sharon Williamson, we stand as a monument of God's grace and faithfulness, literally from generation to generation!
Greg Williamson has been the Lead Pastor of Valley Church since 1993. Greg and his wife Susie, met in Bible College, married after graduation, and have served side-by-side in ministry ever since.
