Welcome, Group Leaders!

At Valley Church, we believe life is better in circles than in rows. Small groups are where meaningful relationships form, faith deepens, and spiritual growth becomes personal. As a Group Leader, you're not just hosting a meeting; you’re shepherding hearts, building community, and partnering with God to transform lives.

We are so grateful that you’re willing to step into this vital role

Our Vision for Groups

We envision groups as communities where people:

  • Grow spiritually through prayer, Scripture, and shared life.
  • Build genuine, grace-filled relationships.
  • They are equipped and empowered to live out their faith in everyday life.
  • Care for one another in practical and spiritual ways.
  • Reach others with the love and truth of Jesus.

Your leadership makes that vision a reality.

What Makes a Great Group Leader?

You don’t need a theology degree. You need a heart for people and a willingness to grow. At Valley, we believe a great leader is someone who:

  • Loves God and is growing in their relationship with Him.
  • Loves people and values community.
  • Lives a life worth following, not perfect, but authentic and humble.
  • Facilitates, not dominates. Your role is to guide, not lecture.
  • Creates space for others to share, ask questions, and be real.
  • Serves faithfully, even when it’s inconvenient.
  • Models prayer, Scripture reading, and grace-based leadership.
Living the Call to Lead Well

Leadership Commitments

As a group leader, we ask you to commit to:

  • Pursuing a growing relationship with Jesus through prayer, Scripture, and worship.
  • Being humble, teachable, and coachable
  • Attending Valley Church services regularly.
  • Giving Generously as a form of worship and stewardship.
  • Leading your group in alignment with Valley’s theology and values.
  • Creating a safe, welcoming, and confidential environment.
  • Handling conflict and sensitive issues with wisdom, grace, and communication.
  • Staying connected to a coach or staff leader for ongoing support and accountability.
  • Living in a way that reflects integrity and maturity.

“Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

— Philippians 2:4-5 (NLT)

Leading a group isn’t always easy, but it’s never lonely.

You're Not Alone

Leading a group isn’t always easy, but it’s never lonely. As a church, we’re committed to:

  • Training you well with tools, resources, and regular check-ins.
  • Equipping you spiritually through prayer, leadership development, and encouragement.
  • Supporting you practically with curriculum options, discussion guides, and coaching.
  • Celebrating your wins and walking with you through the hard stuff.
Your Leadership Matters More Than You Know

Final Encouragement

You are the shepherd of your circle, a spiritual influencer in your group. Whether your group meets in a living room, coffee shop, or Zoom call, the Holy Spirit moves when you make space for others to encounter Jesus.

Keep showing up. Keep trusting God. Keep loving people.

You're doing more than leading a group. You’re changing lives.
